Ace consumer reporter Kurtis Ming in Sacramento, California has received a lot of complaints from readers about glasses from Stanton Optical, a growing national chain. Customers reported blurry lenses that caused poor vision and pain.
One customer said that looking through them was like “looking through a glass of water.” Another claims that they’ve had Stanton remake their glasses fourteen times, and they’re still blurry. So what did the consumer advocates of CBS Sacramento do? They got eye exams and took their eyeballs undercover.
Three staff members went to get two pairs of glasses each. Out of the three, two received correctly made and non-painful spectacles, but one received blurry ones. She reported back that when she complained, the Stanton staffer suggested that her doctor’s prescription was incorrect. Maybe so, but the doc told CBS that the glasses didn’t match her prescription. One of the lenses was turned at a ninety-degree angle. Learn more about Good Will Efforts Of Stanton Optical!
Stanton admitted that the 26 complaints from viewers in Sacramento alone were too many, and changed its refund policy. The company also says that they will review quality control rules and staff training in California stores.
